About
A kilometre of wild golden sand in a nature reserve beneath the Montaña Roja volcano, with no hotels on the shore. It's often windy and the waves are usually moderate; the western end below the mountain is a nudist area. The climb up Montaña Roja rewards you with views over the whole coastline around El Médano.
Our tip
For lunch, head to the Chiringuito Pirata beach bar at the edge of the beach, and tackle Montaña Roja early in the morning or before sunset.
