About
One of the most dramatic roads in the Canary Islands: from Santiago del Teide over the pass with the Cherfe viewpoint, down into the Masca valley and on through hairpin bends to Buenavista in the north. Tight bends above ravines, with views of the Teno peaks and La Gomera, make it an experience – and a test of nerve.
Our tip
Drive slowly, sound your horn before blind bends and give way to the TITSA 355 bus. Since 30 July 2026 the Cabildo has closed the TF-436 to tourist vehicles during wildfire alerts (checkpoints at Las Lagunetas and in Santiago del Teide) – at those times the only way to reach Masca is on the 355 bus.
