About

The capital's main market, in a colonial building with a tower and courtyards – known as ‘La Recova’. It sells fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, cheese, flowers and spices, and at the bars in the courtyard you can have a glass of wine with tapas. The most authentic place to taste Canarian produce.

Our tip

Combine it with a visit to La Gesta playground and the Plaza de España; the market closes in the afternoon, so come in the morning.

What to order

fresh tropical fruit, Canarian cheeses, fish, churros or tapas at the courtyard bars
