About

Lava pools formed by the 1706 eruption that buried Garachico's original harbour. Paths, footbridges and ladders lead between the black rocks down into crystal-clear water. Right next door is the historic centre, with the Castillo de San Miguel fortress and the main square – one of the prettiest towns on the island.

Our tip

Check the sea conditions before you go – the pools close when there are waves. In August 2025 they were also briefly closed because of bacteria, then reopened once the water had been tested.

Owner’s note
„Top natural pools – and a lovely old town too"
