About

An ethnographic park with six stepped stone ‘pyramids’, made famous by the Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl, who saw them as evidence of ancient transatlantic contact. Archaeologists now date them to the 19th century and attribute them to local farmers, but the park presents the mystery in an engaging way: with a museum of Heyerdahl's expeditions, a botanical garden and paths through the lava fields.

Our tip

The full ticket (€18) is better value than the basic one – it covers all the exhibitions and the gardens. For families, there's a new children's workshop with a fixed start time.
