About
On the Izaña ridge, at around 2,400 m, gleam the white domes of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias observatory, one of the world's leading sites for observing the Sun. A guided tour takes you up to the telescopes and explains why the sky above Teide is so exceptional. You can't get into the site without a booking.
Our tip
The observatory is on the TF-24, so you can combine it with a scenic drive along the ridge – down via Chipeque to La Laguna, or back through Las Cañadas to the south.
