About

One of the most beautiful colonial towns in the Canary Islands: steep cobbled streets, the baroque church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, the Jardines Victoria gardens looking out over the valley, and grand townhouses with carved wooden balconies. The best known is the 17th-century Casa de los Balcones, with a gorgeous courtyard and a shop selling hand embroidery.

Our tip

The streets are very steep and parking in the centre is difficult – leave the car on the edge of the old town. If you're here in June for Corpus Christi, you'll see the famous carpets made of flowers and volcanic sand.
