About

The sky above Teide is among the darkest in Europe – the Canary Islands protect it with a dedicated sky-quality law, which is why major astronomical observatories are based here. The most powerful experience is to combine sunset over the sea of clouds with a guided look at the Milky Way through telescopes. Many tours pick you up right in the south.

Our tip

Even in summer, at 2,000–2,500 m it's only a few degrees above zero at night – a hat, gloves and a winter coat are essential. For special events (the Perseids, the solar eclipse in August 2026) the Cabildo banned cars at night and allowed only buses – keep an eye on announcements.
