About

The classic walking route up Teide starts from the TF-21 road: first along a wide gravel track across the pale pumice field of Montaña Blanca, past the giant lava boulders known as the ‘Huevos del Teide’, then up the steep Lomo Tieso path past the Altavista refuge to La Rambleta, by the cable car top station. The checkpoint is at 4.6 km, at the turn-off for the summit of Montaña Blanca – that's where you show your booking along with photo ID.

Our tip

The most sensible plan is to walk up and take the cable car down: a one-way ticket down costs €23.50 and can also be bought at the top via a QR code if the cable car is running (card only). The car park at the trailhead is small; you can also get there on TITSA bus 342 or 348.
